PUBLIC SERVICE

Dan has served the City of Los Angeles for over a decade, including his current roles as Director of External Relations at the Bureau of Street Services (StreetsLA) and as Senior Advisor on the Film and Television Industry.

 

At StreetsLA, he serves on the executive team and manages the division responsible for the legislative affairs, communications, community engagement and project management of of a nearly $200 million public works agency. Dan also acts as the Bureau's spokesperson and chief public information officer.

Additionally, he supports Board of Public Works President Steve Kang, the Mayor's Liaison to the Film and Television Industry. Dan is part of the team tasked with implementing Executive Directives 8 and 11 and ensuring that local government does everything in its power to keep Los Angeles' signature industry growing and thriving in the City.

Dan has deep roots in Hollywood through his service as Communications Director and Director of the HEART of Hollywood initiative at the office of Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell, 13th District. Through this work, he led the development of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Master Plan, overseeing a robust community engagement process and successfully securing millions of dollars in funding.

Dan's career with the City began in 2013 at the office of Councilmember Tom LaBonge, 4th District, where he served as the field deputy for the Hollywood Hills area. In this capacity, he worked on numerous issues pertaining to the Hollywood Sign.  From 2014-2018, he served as the Hollywood field deputy for Councilmember O'Farrell.

Dan also managed the Southern California field office for future California Gov. Gavin Newsom's successful campaign for Lieutenant Governor of California in 2010.

​

Dan is a civically engaged Angeleno and active member of the local LGBTQ+ and Jewish communities. He has served on the boards of multiple organizations including the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Hollywood Partnership, Stonewall Democratic Club, Blank Theatre, City Greens Community Farm and the Rautenberg New Leaders Project (NLP), a program of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.

 

Dan is a graduate of the International Downtown Association's Emerging Leader Fellowship, an executive management program that trains future CEOs and leaders in the realm of place management and economic development.
